Does this work as a nickname for Rowena?

Rowena is one of my top choices for a girl. I've always loved the name Winnie, but thought it would need a formal name for it. It hit me the other day that I could use Winnie as a nickname for Rowena. What do you think? Does it work? It would be an occasional nickname, not something she would go by all the time.
