Is choosing to be a nurse in NYC a good idea?

I was thinking of applying to NYU college of nursing, to become a registered nurse. I really like working with people and I really like NYU. I would want to know the yearly and monthly salary of a registered nurse living in NYC, and is being a nurse enough money to live in the city?
